The “Hacienda La Palmera” is located in the west of the department of Caldas in the municipality of Anserma 60km from Manizales. Its crops are between 1,400 and 1,800 meters above sea level, with an average temperature of 18 C and a rainfall regime of 2,100 ml distributed throughout the year. Characteristics that offer special conditions for the production of high-quality coffees. “La Palmera” is cultivated with 77% of Colombia variety, 18% of Castillo variety and 5% of Bourbon Rosado, of this last varietal we will have its first production in the year 2021. The farm has specialised in two processes of benefit: washed and natural, thus satisfying the needs of its customers.
This coffee was sourced through the Cooperativa Agropecuaria Y De Cafes De Especialidad De Colombia which is an initiative of 20 coffee entrepreneurs to innovate and differentiate the problems of the sector, propose possible solutions and explore the windows of opportunities derived from the production of speciality coffees. By exploring differentiated markets they aim to change the perspective from the commodity coffee market.
The cooperative works on reducing costs, achieving economies of scale, technical advice, administrative training, but its main objective is to promote speciality coffees, implement technology in their production and negotiate an off-the-stock exchange
