Volcano Coffee is a Carbon Neutral and ethically focused roastery based in Brixton

Sometime around 2001 while recovering from a near-fatal bike crash, a broken neck and with plenty of time to think, Kurt Stewart’s passion for the world of coffee lit up and hasn’t flickered since.

It has now been nearly 10 years since Volcano Coffee Works was founded. An ethical roastery that brings the great tasting coffees Kurt grew up with in New Zealand to the UK. In addition there is strong focus to support the livelihoods of the coffee growing communities. Volcano has now grown to a team of 30 passionate people and Kurt remains the beating heart of their family and continues to roast the first batch of coffee each day.

They believe coffee can be a force for good and believe in environmentally sustainable and ethically traded coffee, and work with partners all over the world who actively engage community-based improvements.

Their ethical trading principles ensure that their successes benefit the entire supply chain and beyond, from direct initiatives at origin to local communities here in the UK. With a belief that coffee doesn’t have to be complicated, Volcano are passionate about producing incredible tasting coffee while making a positive impact and have been been certified as carbon neutral.
